If you play World of Warcraft on a regular basis, then you will have probably by now downloaded the latest patch 3.2 - Call of the Crusade. And for those who have endured the cold winters of Northrend and made it as far as Icecrown and to the very doors of the Lich King himself will now find a greatly enlarged Crusader encampment, North of Icecrown which is home to the Argent Tournament. Champions of both Horde and Alliance have been called there to to hone their skills for the final encounter with Arthas and his legions of undead.
Flying over the area reveals that the Crusader's Coliseum is now complete and houses new 10 and 25 man raid dungeons. There are also new quest hubs - one located just outside the Tournament where the Cult of the Damned do their infernal thing with the 'not so dead' Black Knight and a new battleground in the form of a Tuskarr village known as Hrothgar's Landing which is a mist shrouded island north of the continental shelf of Icecrown.
There are also new Dailies for those players who have become Exalted with either the Silver Covenant or the Sunreavers allowing them more ways to earn seals which they can spend on new Tabards, Mounts and Pets. It's interesting to notes that both pets of the Crusade - Elwynn Lamb and the new Shimmering Wyrmling of patch 3.2 are both BOE allowing them to be auctioned for much gold. It's a strong bet that the price of these pets will deflate over time as more players reach the Crusader title of Champion and get access to seals - essentially tokens used to buy items from the Crusader Quartermasters.
Players who reached Champion status with the Crusade, prior to patch 3.2 obtained a 'squire' - a little fellow that follows you around and upon command sprouts a flag. With patch 3.2, players can upgrade their squire for 150 seals. Now the new fellow is much more productive and is able to run errands to the Bank, Mail or Vendor!
But Probably the most important impact the new patch will have is the lowering of the level need to gaining a mount. At level 20, players can now learn Apprentice Riding (skill 75) for only 4 gold and pick up a basic mount for just a few silver more.
So what, I here you say.
Well, for many years in the game, a threshold level used to be level 40 when it cost nearly a 100 gold to learn to ride. This dropped to level 30 and now to level 20. As soon as you gain a mount the world of Azeroth gets smaller and players have a greater opportunity to quest more quickly and hence level faster. As one Blizzard developer said 'its a long way from Auberdine to Astranaar!'
So for new players, a key goal in the game when first starting out should be to rise as quickly as possible to level 20 and make sure you have enough gold to buy your first mount. You'll end up leveling faster from level 20 on-wards and save heaps on boot leather at the same time!
